Our story
We are a family of five, sharing a passion for creating something beautiful. Mathijs, the father, always dreamed of starting his own business, preferably one using local African products. Mariska, the mother, always dreamed of making a difference for people in developing countries.
The family shared this enthusiasm and was eager to contribute. We found our inspiration during a family trip to Uganda. There, we witnessed the knowledge and work ethic of the local people, but also the challenges they faced. We met a community of vanilla farmers and were touched by their dedication.
Together, we decided to establish a company that sources their vanilla at a fair price. This way, we support them directly, and you can enjoy pure, ethically sourced vanilla products. By choosing our products, you help us make a difference.
Why the name Toorovanilla?
We chose the name Tooro Vanilla because our vanilla comes from the Tooro region, an area known for its fertile soil and ideal conditions for growing vanilla. With this name, we not only honor the origin of our vanilla but also the community behind it. We work directly with local farmers and ensure they receive a fair price for their work. In this way, we support a sustainable income and better living conditions for the people in the region.
